Toronto and Peel To enter Stage 2 of Reopening economy

As of Wednesday, June 24, Toronto and Peel Region will move to Stage 2 of the reopening plan. The rest of the GTA was allowed to move to Stage 2 on June 19.   This decision was made in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and the local medical officers of health. It is based on positive local trends of key public health indicators, including lower transmission of COVID-19, ongoing hospital capacity, public health capacity to do rapid case and contact management, and a significant increase in testing.

Great News as more people can return to work as key public health trends improves. Now this means that we have to adapt our ways of living around this Virus, in ways that we haven't before, the usage of face masks, social distancing and high hygiene standars are foremost. 

With this announcement, Toronto and Peel Region will be able to ease restrictions on the following activities and businesses:

  • Outdoor dine-in services at restaurants, bars and other establishments, including patios, curbside, parking lots and adjacent properties;
  • Daycares, with limits on the number of children at each facility;
  • Select personal and personal care services, including tattoo parlours, barber shops, hair salons and beauty salon;
  • Shopping malls under existing restrictions, including food services reopening for take-out and outdoor dining only;
  • Tour and guide services, such as bike and walking, bus and boat tours, as well as tasting and tours for wineries, breweries and distilleries;
  • Water recreational facilities, such as outdoor splash pads and wading pools, and all swimming pools;
  • Beach access and additional camping at Ontario Parks;
  • Camping at private campgrounds;
  • Outdoor-only recreational facilities and training for outdoor team sports, with limits to enable physical distancing;
  • Drive-in and drive-through venues for theatres, concerts, animal attractions and cultural appreciation, such as art installations; and
  • Film and television production activities, with limits to enable physical distancing.
